Reliable and effective water treatment for industrial and commercial supplies
Shakesby® Industrial Iron Removal Filters offer exceptional performance and reliability for almost any private water supply with a flow rate of 2m3/hr to in excess of 100m3/hr. The systems described here are for larger sites. For domestic or light industrial use, please see the separate data sheet.
Shakesby’s well-proven water treatment systems offer distinct advantages:
- High performance – up to 99.9% of iron removed
- High efficiency – all systems are tailored to your precise requirement
- Low operating costs - no salt, low water usage in backwash and minimal servicing
- Environmentally friendly – no chemicals and no elevation of sodium levels
Iron removal is effected by our own filter media - SIRM® (Shakesby Iron Removal Medium) – which removes virtually all the iron, to give water that is substantially cleaner than the permitted national value.
On most sites, Manganese levels are also reduced to well below permitted levels. Where tests indicate that this cannot be achieved, the MG range of additional filters may be recommended. These units are regenerating filters that only remove the Manganese. They do not exchange for other metals, such as Sodium, or add anything to the water.
Some waters can attack metals, especially Copper and Lead. This results in elevated levels of these metals in the water and failure of pipework and hot water cylinders. Shakesby PHUP units are used to correct the aggressive nature of the water and thus eliminating the problem. Your Shakesby distributor will be able to advise on precise requirements.
Flexibility is key to providing the most suitable system for your site requirements. Each unit supplied is tailored to the precise conditions of the water supply and expected usage. All are designed for long term value in use
- Low Wash Water requirements reduce drain loading.
- All systems dismantle easily and quickly to manageable sized sections.
- Optional Clean Water Aerating almost eliminates inlet pipework cleaning on many waters.
- Aeration, venting and filtration is self-contained in one unit.
- Reduced obstructive pipework.
- Easier maintenance.
The precise recommendation for a site will depend on the nature of the supply, the conditions of the site and also on the budget available for treatment plant. All systems will provide excellent water quality, but additional investment in low-maintenance features will reduce costs in use over the longer term.
